To Mr. Wilbur*

Your poems are like riddles,
beckoning to be figured out.

Sometimes they refer to
an unfamiliar place,
             or a random date.

Time does not hold you
                                       down.
Nor does it hinder your ideas.

Whether I join you
By the Orchard Trees, or
In a Smoking car.

I find that the journey we take
Is never dull.

Never dull.
(*Richard Wilbur the poet)
